Welcome to our newly renovated and refurbished clifftop cottage on the beautiful Isle of Arran.  Ailsa Cottage, Auchenhew, Kildonan is situated on the clifftops above Kildonan on the Isle of Arran with uninterrupted sea views overlooking the islands of Pladda, Ailsa Craig and the mainland Ayrshire coast.

Ailsa Cottage is situated in the quiet and tranquil clachan of Auchenhew. It is one of four attached dwellings on the site. Before being converted to a holiday cottage, Ailsa Cottage used to be a stable attached to Auchenhew House.

We bought Ailsa Cottage in 2021 and have completely renovated and upgraded the interior of the cottage and added doors from the bedrooms to provide direct access to the rear garden to make the most of the spectacular sea views.

Ailsa Cottage is surrounded by countryside and within walking distance of the beach at Kildonan (and the Arran Coastal Way) and the beautiful Eas Mor Forest and Falls, with its hidden library. This enchanting spot is on the 323 bus route and is perfect for exploring the Isle of and its many treasures. Whether you are walking the Arran Coastal Way, tackling some of its highest peaks or cycling around the island, the cottage is perfectly placed for you to get the most out of your stay.

We have put careful thought into making sure Ailsa Cottage is fully equipped for your holiday. In the cottage you will find:

• Two bedrooms, one twin and one double, both with access to the rear balcony and private garden and boasting uninterrupted sea views across to Pladda, Ailsa Craig and the Ayrshire coast. The rooms are equipped with comfy beds and blackout thermal curtains. A hair dryer and digital clocks are also provided.
• A light and airy open plan lounge, dining, and kitchen area.
• A relaxing lounge area, with reclining sofa, with a SMART TV, DVD player and a range of local interest books and maps, fiction and non-fiction books, games and jigsaws to help you get the most out of your stay.
• A well-equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and undercounter fridge with freezer compartment.
• A newly fitted bathroom has a full-size bath with large over-bath dual head shower, WC and basin, shaver point and large heated towel rail.
• A covered balcony area with bistro table and chairs to make the most of the spectacular sea views.
• Modern, fully adjustable, thermostatically controlled, electric radiators, to ensure your stay is cosy.
• A private (but not enclosed) patio and garden to the rear of the cottage with panoramic views across the sea to the mainland and an additional private patio to the front of the property, conveniently located close to the kitchen for easy outdoor dining. Both patios have wooden picnic benches.
• Ailsa Cottage is well suited for children, the accommodation is all on one level and we can provide a travel cot, highchair and children’s cutlery and plates. We have a hand blender in the cottage to aid meal preparation for very young children and also provide a range of age-appropriate toys and books, buckets and spades and crabbing lines and nets.

With prior discussion, we can accommodate up to two well behaved and house-trained pets. A £20 pet cleaning fee will be applied when pets are booked to stay at the cottage.

Our quoted price includes: property rental, bed linen, one set of towels per guest, water, electricity, internet and cleaning on departure. Please note that beach towels, cot bedding and pet bedding are not provided.

 Short breaks: Out of season we do offer short breaks: weekend break: stay for up to 3 nights from Friday, departing on Monday morning or midweek break: stay for up to 4 nights, from Monday, leaving on Friday morning.
