Alta Vona is a traditonal mid-terraced house, more than 150 years old. It is situated in Cordon, just at the southern end of Lamlash village. It is a walk of about 700 metres along a level road to reach the bus route, and a similar distance using a footpath to the centre of Lamlash, passing the COAST (Community of Arran Seabed Trust) visitor centre, tennis courts and putting green on the way. It is on the route of Arran Coastal Path.

The house is 50 metres down a track leading from the road to the shore. Cars can be loaded and unloaded here, but parking is in the street. The back garden is fully enclosed, with table and chairs available. The front garden is also enclosed with a garden bench. It is only another 30 metres to the beach which is mainly shingle and sand, suitable in good weather for paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming.

There is a grassy area with toddler swings adjacent to the beach. Alta Vona sleeps 4  in one double room and one twin room. A travel cot is available, though please bring your own bedding for that. Stair gates and fire guards are also available, also high chair and other baby equipment- just ask.

The house has a new combi-boiler and refitted well equipped  kitchen, also recently upgraded windows, and woodburning stoves in the lounge and dining room, make it easy to keep cosy.

There are several restaurants in Lamlash, Lamlash Bay Hotel, the PHT and The Old Pier Cafe is very popular with locals.   There is a popular golf course with clubhouse and restaurant
