There are few locations in Scotland to compare with the North end of the Isle of Arran. Excellent hill walking, easy access to the sea, abundant wildlife, and all this in a typical West Highland setting; and yet the property is still within relatively easy reach of the Ayrshire coast, Glasgow, and its two international airports.
Accommodation
The property is particularly safe for children, set back as it is, approximately four hundred yards from the main road.
The owners have tried to retain the original cottage ambience, while providing mod-cons.
There is a licensed hotel in the village selling bar meals and a good selection of whiskies(sorry this is currently closed). The Distillery, only a few hundred yards away, is a popular tourist attraction, as is Stags Pavilion restaurant, again only a few hundred yards away. The nearest shop is in the next village of Pirnmill, approximately seven miles away, and there is a large supermarket in Brodick, near the main ferry terminal.
Lochranza is also connected to the mainland by a car ferry from Claonaig on Kintyre, and the car journey from Claonaig to Glasgow is particularly attractive and takes around two and a half hours. Guests should check the ferry times with Caledonian MacBrayne.
One prominent feature of Cnoc Cottage is the conservatory looking out to the castle and over the Kilbrannan Sound. Watch the deer and the red squirrels while having a meal or sipping a glass of wine!
